Pre's Trail X-Country Challenge to Raise Funds for Memorial TrailPublished by
The annual OTC Pre’s Trail X-Country Challenge takes place on Friday, August 24, 2012 on the Prefontaine Memorial Trail in Alton Baker Park. The Pre’s Trail X-Country Challenge will feature both individual and team entries in races for all ages, complete with hay bale obstacles and great scenery. It is being moved up from October to August to provide a fun training opportunity prior to the fall cross country season. Affectionately known as Pre’s Trail, this four mileribbon of bark was created to honor the late Steve Prefontaine and provides a “Heavy use and high esteem for Pre’s Trail make it a very special community asset, and also means that regular trail maintenance is critical. We hope to generate much-needed funds to help in our ongoing Trail work,” said Bill Kelly, current president of the Oregon Track Club. As added incentive this year, over $1500 worth of prizes will be awarded this year via random drawings and to Race Schedule
