DUCK LEADERS, OTC ELITE NEWCOMERS HIGHLIGHT FIRST TRACKTOWN TUESDAY OF 2019

Two University of Oregon standouts and a trio of Oregon Track Club Elite newcomers will headline the first TrackTown Tuesday of 2019 on Feb. 5 at the Downtown Athletic Club.

The Ducks will be represented by two student-athletes who are considered team leaders by both their coaches and peers. Senior Jessica Hull is the reigning NCAA 1500m champion and was third overall at the 2018 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Jonathan Harvey, a junior who earned points for the Ducks in both hurdle races at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships, is an integral part of Oregon’s 4x400m relay.

OTC Elite’s Andy Trouard, Drew Piazza, and Vincent Ciattei will be on the TrackTown Tuesday stage for the first time. Trouard, the 2018 NCAA Indoor Champion in the 3000m, was a student-athlete at Northern Arizona University. Piazza and Ciattei both hail from Virginia Tech. Piazza was ranked seventh in the 800m in the U.S. in 2018. Ciattei was the silver medalist in the 1500m at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Finally, representatives from Eugene Civic Alliance (ECA) will share details about the Civic Park project. Both guests have firsthand knowledge of the opportunities that can be created through sport. Bev Smith, former star and coach of the UO women’s basketball team, is the Executive Director of Kidsports. Bridget Franek, 2012 Olympian in the 3000m steeplechase, is the Community Development Officer at ECA.

UO Associate Athletic Director Vin Lananna will welcome the crowd and Sasha Spencer Atwood, Director of External Affairs at TrackTown USA, will reprise her role as emcee.

The popular town hall meetings are free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a social hour, followed by the one-hour show at 7 p.m.

As always, $5 appetizers from the DAC and $3 pints of beer from Hop Valley Brewing Company will be available for purchase. Free parking is available in the adjacent Overpark.
